Saturday Morning Cartoons

Hey all,

Yeah I know. I've been slacking off on my duties of posting SMC. But I'm back with a vengeance now. And Since I missed a couple of weeks, you'll get not one, not two, but four different cartoon intros this week. What can I say I'm generous that way. :P So without further ado here are your cartoons:

Spider-man 1967

Rocket Robin Hood

The Mighty Hercules

Mach Go Go Go! (Speed Racer)

I would've loved to put in the english version of the intro here. But the only two videos available have disallowed embeding so you're stuck with the better Japanese version. :P I don't know why I decided to go totally retro right now. It felt appropriate I guess. Still, those four shows have been a part of my childhood and I'm sure at least one has been a part of yours. God I remember watching Rocket Robin and Hercules with my dad.

Speed Racer came later in my life like when I was a teenager. But at that point I was so much into Anime that I did care if it was old school. It used to air on YTV back in the 90's.

Good times. ^-^

Until then, this is me signing off.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Hey all,

Yet again we will delve into our collective childhood to rummage through old memories of the past. Today I bring an entry that has two intros. But are at the same time very different. ( You'll understand better when you'll watch them. ) So without further ado, I present to you:

The Real Ghostbusters

And also: Ghostbusters

I can actually hear you say: "What the frak?!". I know, I was very confused too when I was younger. Especially since I really loved the GhostBusters movie. You can imagine my surprise the first time I saw two GhostBusters show in the TV Guide and was treated to two very different shows. I just thought it would be double the proton pack fun. The second show turned out to have a Gorilla in it.

Still, Ghostbusters had it's own thing going for it. And I have to admit it was pretty interesting none the less. In fact, I think my dad preferred this one instead of The Real Ghostbusters show with Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston. It was based on a live-action television show for kids in the 70's called The Ghost Busters.

Apparently there was a big brou-ha-ha made about the licensing of the name when it came time to make the cartoons. So the cartoon based on the movie was named the Real Ghostbusters just to differentiate the two series.

So now you know... and knowing is half the battle. ^w^

Until then, this is me signing out

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Hey all,

Time again for another entry of SMC. Today's SMC is something pretty much everyone knows about. And to show how popular this character was, I'll show you the intro three times in different languages.

Astro boy

Tetsuwan Atomu

Astro le Petit Robot

If you've never heard of him, I suggest you go back to the rock you've been living under all this time. ^w^

Until then, this is me signing off.

P.S.: Don't worry. I'm working on other stuff as well. It's just with this I have something to talk about every week. You know kinda get my creative juices flowing.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Hey all,

It's saturday again. And here's another intro for you guys to watch. This week I chose something that, at the time, didn't know was anime. I'm sure a lot of you had cartoons like that. But anyway, here goes.

Robotech

Robotech is a united states adaptation of the early Macross anime universe. It basically took three separate series and mashed them into one. Robotech represents what is wrong with bringing an anime states side. However, the contents of the series was still pretty interesting and in many respects, Robotech is considered as being responsible for igniting anime fandom in North America.

Here's the Japanese intro of the first series just for kicks. ^-^

Until then, this is me signing off.

Saturday morning cartoons

Hey all,

So I want to start something. Every saturdays, ( Or most every saturdays. ) I will put up a video of a cartoon intro. Why? you ask. Because it's my blog and I can. ^w^

But mostly for the hell of it. And also part nostalgia. I was thinking about just putting cartoons from the 80's but I figure that after a while it will probably be limiting. So I'm going for everything here. Even Anime intros I really I really like. ( And most possibly in their original versions too. ) And since I'm french canadian, you will probably hear see some french intros. ( Just giving you guys a heads here. ) So without further ado, I present to you the first intro to ever grace this blog. Watch out now. I'm starting strong.

Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos

So, who stars in who's Karate Kommandos? And WTF is this about deadly dolphins. Seriously I thought dolphins were supposed to be friendly. Oh well.

Since this is the first edition of Saturday Morning Cartoons, I've decided to put up another video. This one is from my favorite anime series.

Lupin the 3rd

Lupin the 3rd is just about the mischiefs of this gentlemen thief and his friends. It's very a good show considering it's age too. Think of it as Sherlock Holmes meets James Bond. I fell in love with this character after watching Hayao Miyazaki's Castle of Cagliostro.

For obvious reasons, I never watched Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos. I mean, anything that has killer dolphins probably sucks ass. Plus it only had 5 episodes. But obviously, Chuck Norris only needs 5 episodes. ^-^

Ok well that's it for today.I hope you liked the first installment of SMC. Come back next week for another one.

Until then, this is me signing off.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 get...

Hey all,

I got my grubby little mitts on this.

Yeah, it's awesome. It's as good as the second one. Maybe a little less characters then the last one but that's not necessarily a bad thing per say. ( Sometimes, too much is like not enough. ) One thing that is very different from the second one is the controls. Instead of a four buttons attack scheme, ( Two hard and two medium attacks. ) they opted for a three buttons scheme plus one special which you use to initiate the air combos and do certain special moves. The three buttons are low, medium and hard attacks. But there's no difference between punches and kicks. This was apparently done to facilitate the task for newcomers to the game. ( Although I'm pretty sure that a newcomer who's reading this might think I'm speaking chinese. ^-^ )

The graphics are kick ass. The character models are so sleek it's unbelievable. Some of the Marvel characters look like their movie counterpart. ( I.E. Ironman and Thor. Or maybe they look like their comics version. I don't really know anymore since I don't read comics much lately. ) And like Street Fighter IV, the animation is very fluid. The characters that have appeared in the earlier version pretty much play the same way that they did before. ( I.E. Same animation. ) Although some of their special moves have changed to fit the new button scheme. But the roster isn't only consisted of older characters. There's a plethora of new fighters to choose from as well. From Ghosts & Goblins Arthur, to MODOK from the Marvel Universe.

All in all, this is a very good fighting game. I give it a 4.5 thumbs up out of 5. Here's a video to show you the awesomeness/madness that is Marvel vs. Capcom.

Until then, this is me signing out.

Dragons and Assassins and Xboxes. Oh my!!!

Hey all,

So yeah, back in septembre I got the Red Ring of Death on my 360. Or rather the E74 message of dread. Simply put, my Xbox died on me. J proposed to me that I send it in an get it repaired, but i argued that it would be better if we bought a new one since my old roommate did that with is 360 and had to send it in again a couple of months after it came back.

So I bought the new and sleeker 360 slim model. I just love it. ^-^ And I bought a bundle that Best Buy did back in November. It was basically the Xbox holiday bundle packed with Forza 3 and Alan Wake but Best Buy added Assassins Creed 2 with it. When I saw they had that I went straight to the store with the circular in hand and said to the clerk: "I want this!" while pointing to the special in question. I also bought Dragon Age: Origins with it so that J could try it out.

Let me tell you. It feels good to be gaming again after a month and a half hiatus. As expected, J loved DA. ( She just finished it last friday. ) And I loved AC2. ( Which I finished a couple of weeks before the holidays. I've started a game of DA myself. ) I also got around to play Limbo on Xbox Live Arcade which is probably the best game to come out on XLA this year. We also bought the Kinect with a couple of games which is pretty awesome. We got Kinect Adventures and Dance Central. DC is good, KA not so much though. And just this week-end I bought Borderlands and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I got the game of the year edition for both of them.

So basically, I guess my only goal with this post is to reaffirm my love for video games and also to say that, for the exception of Kinect Adventures that isn't that good and Forza 3 that I haven't tried yet, you should try every game I mentioned and thank me later. That is all. ^-^

Assassins Creed 2: 4.3 Thumbs up

Dragon Age: 4.3 Thumbs up

Borderlands: 4 Thumbs up

Oblivion: 4 Thumbs up

Limbo: 4.5 Thumbs up

Dance Central: 4 Thumbs up

Alan Wake: 3.8 Thumbs up

Until then, this is me signing off.
